Ying-Yung Theatre
The Ying-Yung Theatre
was established in 2000, with a primary aim to develop self discipline
and artistic skills in young actors and adults with learning disabilities.
The aim of the
productions is to encourage the cast to develop skills of self awareness
and inner discipline. Through improvisation, the plays will make modern
statements; explore the way that teenagers view the world and their
contribution to it. These skills and awareness will help them
investigate key issues associated with relationships, responsibility,
and self evaluation, whilst also allowing the teenagers to address
frustrations, fears and injustices that accompany adolescence.
The mixed group of
actors encourages dedication and a community wide participation of
parents, friends and volunteers all contribute to the enrichment of the
wider community.
Participation in
productions develops numerous skills in the individual and as a group.
Individual skills acquired and developed would be self confidence,
language development, self expression and awareness. Community
participations and group skills would also be of benefit to the actors
and the wider community.
